Invisalign is a series of orthodontia trays that gently but firmly shift teeth into their proper position. These trays are customized to a patient’s mouth, and work like traditional braces do to change a bite. Each set of aligners is crafted to represent the position of the teeth one step closer to the desired end result. Worn for two weeks at a time, the alignment trays place gentle pressure on teeth moving them into the new position. The entire course of treatment usually takes between eight and eighteen months. The main advantage of Invisalign is that it preserves the professional image of our Wilton Manors patients while improving their smile. To ensure success throughout your treatment, you’ll need to take special care of your smile. In addition to twice daily tooth brushing and flossing, you’ll need to make sure to keep your Invisalign trays clean by brushing them or using an antimicrobial rinse. Between meals, you should take the time to brush teeth and Invisalign trays whenever possible. If you don’t have time to brush, you should at least rinse out your mouth and clean off your Invisalign trays before replacing them. Using antimicrobial mouth rinse between meals is a great option for patients who don’t have time to brush.
